Digital coming to 21 counties

According to the Wisconsin Interoperability Matrix, 21 counties have plans to switch from analog to digital.

The actual question on the sheet where that chart (http://oja.state.wi.us/docs_view2.asp?docid=3220) comes from asked:

"What is Your Agencies Preference For It's Next Radio System?" It was multiple choice with possible answers being Analog, Digital, or Don't know.

I wouldn't take that chart to be the bible when it comes to a Counties plans on going digital.

not happening in marquette

I Can't speak for the rest but it won't happen in Marquette county it took 2 years and a major effort to get one new tower and 3 reciever sites put in and the vote with the county supervisors wasn't unanamous. The sheriff's office would love too get this done but it would cause all h *** to break lose in marquette, and I would bet Green Lake is a long shot too they still page their fire departments on vhf-lo band, only one left in Wisconsin! :shock:

It was more than likely someone different at every agency.

Different people are in charge of communications at different agencies.

Iron County is already and Vilas (i think) are already digital, same for the town of Hurley.

Oneida County

The Oneida County Sheriff Department is also using digital radios. The deputy sheriff that I talked to had a Motorola XTS 3000 and said the SO has had the radios for at least a year.

Probably encryption, not digital voice.

I moved out of Oneida a few years ago, but they have a VHF analog/digital system. They use analog voice most of the time but switch to digital (encrypted) for "secure" traffic that they don't want anyone to be able to hear. Vilas and Forest counties are the same way. They transmit a PL tone when using analog voice, but no tone when in "secure" mode. If your radio has PL decode, put the tone in and you won't have to listen to the "static" when they're in secure mode. Oneida county PL is 114.8. Vilas is a digital private line, as is Rhinelander PD. Forest county PL is either 123.0 or 127.3 (I forget).

Forest County

The Forest County Sheriff Dispatch can operate in analog or digital mode on 155.7300.
All Sheriff business is digital with about 50% encrypted. The Sheriff Dispatch operates in analog mode with a PL of 127.3 when communicating with county Rescue Squads.

Two tone detect help

I can't get two tone detect to work. I have everything installed it says to install, I put all the info in (two tone freq...etc) but when I go to save and exit I get these errors. It looks like it does work and record. As I was working on it we got a call and it did catch it, but at the time I still didn't have all the other info in yet. I switched between the old software and the new and it seems to give me the same error. something about TwoToneDetect21.vi ...... I installed labview runtime 8.5 and labview visa. They installed. I am not sure if I am suppose to do anything else with them or is it just a matter of having them installed on the computer enough. If anyone has any info I would really appreciate it.

Digital Geography

I'm thinking that transition to digital may be slowed significantly due to the current poor economy and government cut-backs. Then again, more than a handful of PD's generate their own funding!

Use the tested version, also pay close attention to the image of the program as it would appear on your desktop from the help file, as far as whats typed into each setting. also make sure you have created a file called "Tones" in your c drive file. Any other questions search rr for the thread about the program
