Hello, I can't decide on a digital or analog trunk scanner. I live in Orlando. Does anyone know how long Orlando will stay analog. I'd rather pay $200 for a Pro 95 instaed of $500 for a Pro 96. However, if I cant get few good years out of the analog scanner, I'll go digital. Any input is appreciated.

cigator,

It really gets back to how much you like to scan, and how much are you willing to spend on equipment to scan. :)

If $500 bucks is not going to break the bank, get the 96. You may never know when it will come in handy.

If your on a budget and need to save money, get the 95. There are a zillion things to listen to besides trunked systems.

Plus too, it is so ez to tap the discriminator of the 95, opening up a whole new avenue of scanning.

Thanks for the reply. I currently have an Icom IC-R3. It is not a trunk scanner, so I am missing out on alot of communication here in Orlando. Honestly, I want a scanner to listen to while I'm sitting out by the pool or reading a magazine. Maybe I'm not dedicated to scanning enough, but without the trunking capability, I'm really not all that pleased with what there is to listen to on my Icom. Simply, I want a good trunk scanner that won't be a paperweight anytime in the near future.

There are three digital systems listed in Orange Co.
