If I find a digital channel using my bearcat bcd-996T 's search feature ,is there a way to put that frequency into the scanner and monitor it to see what it is without knowing the other frequencies on THAT system?
Say like on said Frequency or whatever I hear digital "noise" and program it into a system ,would I be able to
hear anything??If anyone has this scanner tell me how to do this?Thanks-

Bumped over to the Uniden forum as it's a scanner specific question.

Yes, I've done that often on 'Unencrypted' Motorola P25 systems. (Other system types may require different settings.)
Just program it as digital in a conventional system.

I've attached one of my usd files for an example. The SQK is .35

Although, if you hear constant digital noise, you can program it as a CC only system. The BCD996T will decode the data and find the other system frequencies for you.

A sample of that is also attached. The SQK is .99

Screen captures of the settings are attached of the 35 & 99 files in case you aren't using Uniden's UASD software.

maybe a dumb question

What is a SQK?
How can I set my 996 to search for a certain frequency range and find a frequency and look for whether its digital or p25 then look for the other channels IF the found frequency in search belongs to a system or repeater?Ya can hit me on yahoo same name if you think its too long to type here.Thank you. (im a noobie)

SQK = System Quick Key. (They allow you to select or deselect systems for scanning.)

The Easier to Read Manual at the link below should answer most of your questions.

Rich

Search down to: "Understanding Quick Keys"

There are 100 'System Quick Keys' (0-99)
and
10 'Group Quick Keys' (0-9)
