It’s amazing to see how many digital scanners are up for sale in the forum. Does this have something to do with the new BCD996T on the market?

As the new 996T becomes more and more popular you’re going to see the price of these begin to drop and more flood the resale market.

I am a Church of the Sub-Genius fan!! Listened to them on KNON in Dallas when I used to live there!! I will never sell my Pro96, thought about it. I bought a Uniden396t but returned it becase it was not very easy to operate!! Pro96 digital sound quality is better. Radioshack needs to come out with a newer version of the Pro96 with mil air etc...
Radioshack scanners are much better!! 73's

You say that like it's a bad thing. <G> Actually, I'll be selling a BCT8, but none of my digital scanners. The 796D still has some life left in it and my 785D will become my conventional and 900Mhz scanner when rebanding makes it obsolete for 800 Mhz trunking. (Motorola only, that is)

I had a feeling this post might stir-up the true RS fan. I too have a PRO-2096 and really like it for some of the same reasons. I just happened to observe the rash of digital scanners popping up all of a sudden.

Great to hear there's sub-genius fan in the group. Although I not the original "Bob" I am a close follower and maybe distant relative in some form or fashion.

The Pro96 is perfectly capable of mil air

Correction: The Pro96 is capable of mil air, but not perfectly. The Pro96 receives mil-air but the radio is not tuned to receive perfectly in that band. So its not an optimal mil-air scanner.

No, but I doubt people would buy the PRO-96 as an optimal mil air scanner if it was designed to receive mil air anyway.

thats what software and the owners manual is for- if you cant figure it out, ask a question here!

theres no doubt that uniden and gre (radioshack) products both have good points
and bad points. i wont knock what gre has produced, its just that uniden seems to be going forward and gre seems to stay right where they are. hopefully, gre will produce a more modern storage theme to get over the hurdle with the trunking. time will tell.
