digital scanners and non digital scanners

Okay is it true that the best digital scanner is the BCD396T?I think the best none digital scanner is the PRO-97 do to good reception ,clear signal and good manual.

But I will see what other members comment on what they say about this, that knows lots more than me about scanners.

I just would like digital scanners to cost $200 to $300!! But it does not look like that will ever happen

There are good used deals (slightly more than your purchase window) for digital out there if you are motivated .

Yeah I must agree the GRE PSR-500 and its brother the PSR-600 are the best on the digital side right now. As far as the non digital the GRE PSR-300 and PSR-400 are basically the same as the 97 but updated.

Save your pennies for the digital! When i got back into scanning i just bit the bullet and bought the 996T. No regrets

You just have to look in the right places. Ebay, pawn shops, craigslist are a few things you could try. I got a PRO-96 at my local Pawn America for $199 and they currently have a 2096 for $279.

The 250 is not rebanding-friendly. Since rebanding has started in some areas, it will be a paperweight soon.

I guess thats the only option or hope there is new generation scanner.There is not much to talk about now in this thread .

I guess problem scanners is dying out and not profitable for makers to have it at $300..

No the problem is the licensing fee the companies have to pay for the use of the digital decoding. For all we know they have to pay a pretty large fee for every scanner they produce that has it.

Whereas this is true, the biggest problem with the 250 is that it will not work on Project 25 systems.
