What is a good digital scanner to purchase?

Either the RadioShack PRO-96/PRO-2096, or the Uniden BC269D/BC796D will do you well...

If you need LTR or computer control, I'd opt for the Unidens. If not, go with the RadioShacks. I have the PRO-96 and I love it... It takes standard AA's, automatically adjusts the digital audio quality and has automatic digital gain control. On conventional analog, it uses reverse burst with the CTCSS/DCS tones to help eliminate the squelch tale. Sounds nice and professional...
