Well you more than anyone know what your needs are so everyone else’s opinion is just that, Their Opinion.

Are you looking for a base or handheld?
Are you wanting to go as cheap as possible or money’s no object?
Do you want something to just get by for today or looking towards the future?
What features in scanning are most important for you? Alpha Tags, built in tap for use of Trunker, special alert features.

That being said I think your best options might be:

Base Models (Higher End $)
Uniden BCD996T
GRE PSR-600
Radio Shack PRO-197
(Low End $)
Uniden BC15T

Handhelds (Higher End $)
Uniden BCD396T or BC346XT
GRE PSR-500
Radio Shack PRO-106

(Low End $)
Uniden BC246T

Programming is about the same with all since they all are supported by software, some of which can be downloaded for free. All of the above listed have been reported here as working great on the rebanded UCAN with the exception of the BC346XT since it is just coming out on the market. It really comes down to the amount of $$$ you want to spend honestly. Once you decide your budget then you can figure out what it is you can get.
