Digital Testing in Tulsa

The following talkgroups were heard and confirmed in the Tulsa area.
Testing started around 8:30 AM Feb 3, 2006 and ended around 11:00
AM Feb 3, 2006.

The system would most likely remain at 3600 baud. Making the leap to 9600 baud (6.x or 7.x) would require mostly all new master site equipment (several million dollars), re-flashing of all portable and mobile radios (not cheap at Motorola's cost), as well as getting rid of all analog only equipment (STX, LCS/LTS, MCS/MTS, MTX, etc.) and replacing it with new digital radios. I don't think that there is enough cash flow going around in places like Sand Springs and other Tulsa area agencies to make the leap. Plus, OHP would have to get rid of all of the MCS radios that they have in the cars and purchase new XTL-series radios.

Considering that nobody has any money to do anything these days, I would say that the likelihood of a switch to 9600 is pretty low. :)
