Hey guys! I've not been listening in a while but ya know, I went out and bought this $500 digital trunking scanner because everyone was going P25 digital 'very soon'....i've been hearing it for years now and i'm coming back to the forum and it looks like everything is still analog...what's the deal? Anybody else know anything about it or frustrated? :) Or maybe I've just not been into it for awhile and i've missed something...are there digital transmissions out there? I'd like to try out the new feature on my new scanner but nothing seems to be digital yet that i can find....

There are several Digital transmissons on the tulsa site, just not true P-25. If you want try to program a bank or two with the Arkansas Wireless system and head over there, I just did and used it while doing the Talihina Drive thing to Queen Wilhelmina State Park @ Mena, AR. this weekend.

thanks! i didn't realize there was a digital system next door to us! I just went to little rock a few weeks ago :( So what groups are digital out there on the tulsa system? Maybe i can put my 2096 in closed mode and listen for them? Is the quality that much better? When I worked in Owasso, the guy out there 'assured' me that everything would be digital when they switched, is it?

No there is still lots of Police and fire stations in Oklahoma that still are on conventional analog systems. But my guess is that one day every police fire station will go digital but even that will still be several years
down the road. once that happens digital scanners will get a little cheaper.

No Owasso isn't digital AFAIK on their regular ID's. Although I did hear a 7D mentioned one day I have yet to discover the ID or if it is Digital.

Tulsa's Digital ID's are listed in the DB and sometimes are encrypted, but not always. Sometimes one side of the Convo is encrypted the other side not, also there is some radio tech traffic on Private Call that is showing digital.

12240 Is refered to as Dynamic by users, not used often only in big crime events.
11216
11312
11696 Are some other ID's. These are the ones that may come in as one side encrypted.

As you probably know, EMSA is digital/encrypted. The only other digital TGs in the Tulsa area I can think of off the top of my head is a few of the TPD zone 8 "utilities" ones.

There's only 1 good reason to go digital and that's to enable Encryption for privacy. So if you enjoy your hobby of listening to your scanner, wishing for digital might not be a good idea.
