I want a good hand held scanner. I am going to be using it for a nascar race in march, but from then on it is just for hobby. I have heard that everything in my area is trunked, but am unsure if that is digital or analog trunking ect. My friend uses a PRO-95.

I don't care how many channels it stores, and am very handy with modifications (retired electronics tech).

I am looking for a scanner I can get the most of. Maybe something I can get trunking on and with a discriminator tap possibly get cellular ?

Any suggestions ?

Thanks so much.

P.S. IF you are looking to sell just such an item I don't mind emails if you want to tell me what you want for it.[/code]

The RRDB will help you figure out either A or D. The Pro-95 is good, but it is only analog.

You should not have any problem finding it if money is no object. :)

Most scanners can be discriminator tapped. Cellular? pfffft ... lol. For real? Cellular is dead and in the USA it is illegal. Sorry.

Speeding is illegal also, but they have not hung me so far.

Listening to cell conversations is illegal. No doubt about it. Not to mention its about as boring as watching paint dry. Almost everything nowadays is digital. Or encrypted. Your not going to hear much. Kinda sounds like the guy who was trying to figure out how to listen to his cordless phone.

Its boring and illegal. Why do it?

Whatever dude.

Actually, the point is, because it is illegal these types of discussions are strongly discourged around here. Anything related to scanning is cool. And then some .. hehe .. just surf the Tavern!

It is legal here in Canada.I can hear Detroit from here,as well as local stuff. It is boring...the conversations change frequencies suddenly, often.Hardly any analogue stuff left anyways, like mentioned. You're not missing much, not worth getting the mods/members mad at you.
