No, but you can get either a TV tuner card to go inside the puter, or a USB one that doesn't have to go inside it. Just be sure you get one that does digital; there are a lot of old ones around that will not.
You can even get one that will do over the air or cable too--

That should be a possible no. If your computer already has a tuner installed, then the answer would be yes. Otherwise you will have to do what Thayne said.

You are right, I never thought of that scenario of already having a tuner card---

However?

Would the computer need a tuner card? All a tv does now, is provide a monitor. The box does the tunning.

Yes, it needs some sort of tuner card to interface to the computer, either external USB or pci Bus

The box tunes, decodes the digital signal, AND converts it to a signal that is fed into and recognized by the tuner or composite inputs on your TV. Your computer would need some input that the box can feed. That is what the tuner card is for.

Can you hook up a digital converter box up to your computer to watch tv?
YES, if ....
a) your computer has an analog TV tuner ... OR ...
b) your computer has LINE INPUTS and the converter you purchased has LINE OUTPUTS.

Digital TV Question

I have three Samsung 19" computer monitors that also have TV tuners in them. They all have the PIP (Picture In Picture) feature that seems to be rather uncommon these days. I typically surf the web and have TV in the upper right corner. In fact, I have quite a bit of flexibility with it. I feed my DISH Network 622 satellite receiver into it since the DISH 622 has 2 tuners I can watch what is selected on TV1 or TV2. If that doesn't interest me, I also have converter boxes connected to them and I can watch OTA (Over The Air) TV.
