To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Has anyone seen a DIN sleeve or other rack mounting solution for the SDS200?

I want to build a rack mounting solution for the SDS200. It looks like it might fit in a 2u rack if the top/bottom edges were very thin, thus a DIN sleeve would work better than the Jotto faceplates I use these days.

Thanks!

mc48 is on the money! I have ordered and used numerous rack plates from Alberta Radio Supply through the years. Inexpensive and fast ship from Canada.

That is certainly on my radar! It looks like they have some nice stuff.

I was hoping to find some sort of 2u rack however. While it would be a bit thin above and below the radio it could work. I might ask them if they would make such a beast for me, perhaps with a standard DIN size slot on one side and an SDS200 slot on the other.

My ultimate goal is a 4-scanner rack with 2 2u panels, one for the SDS and a 996 and the other for a pair of 536's. This would then replace one of my monitor stands on the desk.

Rick,
I will save you some time. Alberta Radio CAN't do a 2U for SDS200's BUT he can do a 3U SDS200 with a DIN-E or 996/536 Hole.
Once I get my 2nd SDS200, I will be doing an 8U Rack with a 1U Power Strip, 3U 2 SDS200's, 2U 2 996P2's, and 2U BCT15x/1 XTL2500.

I am changing from a 4 Scanner Spectra Stand, I don't like seeing the wires, SDRs, and multicopuler. I want everything hidden away.
Oh, and I am keeping my Spectra 4 Scanner stand in case I change my mind again.

I just now had sent a message asking him if they can. If not I suppose I might look at a 3u solution if they can put a 996 size slot on one side. I am trying to keep the height down to us this to replace a monitor stand.

This too will replace the Spectrum Force rack currently on my desk.
