If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, I have two hytera radios and I am trying to create a direct encrypted channel between them.
I have problems if I put the arc4 key, and cant receive to the other radio.

This is my steps on both radios:
- Digital channel: (CC, PseudoTrunk,Slot1, Same RX/TX, RX Group, TX Contact name, Encrypt ok, Full, key alias).
- Digital Common: Basic: Radio Id (Different in each radio), TX Preamble 960, Group/Private hang time: 3.0

I dont know if I need to configure more options to a successful transmission.

thanks.

1. Use Feature Control and ensure your radio has CONVENTIONAL FEATURES IN SUSCRIBER = BASIC ENC function enabled. Eg PD6*** series portable radio's PD602 basic encryption is a purchased licence entitlement add on, but PD662 and PD682 BASIC ENC is an included function from approximately Firmware version 7.5.00 and later. My point of reference is sales region NA2 radios.

2. DIGITAL COMMON > ENCRYPTION >ENCRYPT CHECK > KEY LENGTH 10 CHARACTERS > POPULATE KEY AND ADD KEY NAME

3. DIGITAL CHANNEL > COLOUR CODE xx > SLOT OPERATION psuedo trunk >PSUEDO DESIGNATED TX none > FREQ AND RX GROUP LIST > ENCRYPT check > ENCRYPT TYPE full > ENCRYPT KEY select your created key from drop down.

This will configure working simplex ARC4 40 bit encryption for a digital channel compatible between Hytera suscribers capable of Psuedo trunk. For other suscribers or mixed suscribers SLOT OPERATION is SL1 instead of PSUEDO TRUNK.

I use ARC4 in a mixed Hytera/Motorola suscriber pool and quote from memory my own Hytera codeplug settings, it definelty works when set correctly.

GENERAL SETTINGS > BUTTONS assign a button or key to enable or disable SCRAMBLER/ENCRYPT for the digital channel you have created.

You may also use digital channel MIX RECEIVE if sharing busy channels with other digital or analogue users who may not be in your user group and dont wish to run over the top of them on purpose.
