Wilson Electronics Wideband Directional antenna 700-2400mhz 50ohm
Does anyone know if this type of antenna will work with a scanner on 700 and 800 MHz systems?

That should work fine! Inside it looks similar to this, maybe with more elements depending on the gain or bandwidth. That has a female Type-N connector that will require a male connector like this: (not a PL-259)

Yes. That's a Log Periodic antenna inside there. A bit different than a Yagi.
Wilson doesn't sell outstanding antennas. That'll work, but don't expect it to last forever. Then again, for the price you could buy a spare.

I put one of those up at my brother in laws place to connect a Cradlepoint type device to a cell site a few miles away. Works fine, but we put it under the eaves to keep it protected.

If 700/800MHz is all you are interested in, you'll get better performance out of a Yagi designed for those frequencies.

But, yes, it'll work.

That is what it is made for but you can do better with a 5 to 9 element yagi.
The innards are nothing more than a phased array of log periodic dipoles etched on a PC board.
Point of that is for the bandwidth.
The Yagi can do 700 and 800 MHZ with more gain yet.
