The mystery of the runaway blimp has been solved.
High winds ripped a 128-foot-long blimp from its moorings at Ohio State University's Don Scott Field on the Northwest Side at 12:05 a.m. today.
The airborne fugitive headed east and remained missing for more than seven hours until its wreckage was found at 5916 Linworth Road in Worthington at 7:37 a.m., according to the State Highway Patrol.
The Federal Aviation Administration and Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration had been notified of the potential hazard to air traffic.
The blimp advertised Hangar 1 Vodka, troopers said.
