Is there any way for a user to disable the display of avatar's in their profile? I occasionally want to check up on posts from my office. Some of the animated avatars are a bit annoying and others, while not necessarily offensive, might not be appropriate in certain environments. Ideally I would like to find out how to turn on/off avatars, signatures, and images within posts.

This is not an user selectable option. Use the RSS feed feature of this website.

mine is logged, but since i am the appointed scannerhead it is ok to spend the day on rr.com

If you're looking for a good FREE RSS reader, Mozilla Thunderbird is a good one. You can set it to check for new posts on Radio Reference every minute if you so choose.
