• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Disable constant flashing red LED on XPR7580e

We are about to deploy several hundred XPR7580e portables on a Mototurbo capable Tier 3 Cap Max system and the constant flashing red LED in standby is my big complaint. I have searched the settings in Radio Management /Configuration and found no way to stop it. Am I missing something? Also I found that if one of the front panel programmed buttons is set to Zone select, you loose that function if the direct channel entry from the keypad is enabled. Any help on that would also be appreciated. We bought these radios through our non-Motorola infrastructure supplier, so Motorola seems to treat us worse than a step child........

Hey, so the red light flashing issue reminds me of something I ran into over the years. Were these radios recased before you bought them? If you turn the radio on and get the flashing red light, can you key it up and clear the flashing light?

Not sure on the zone button issue. Might have something to do with the cap max and I have never been exposed to that type of system flashed into a radio.

Thank you for the reply, The local Motorola shop tech answered my question. Turn scan off. The configuration writer had it turned on from power up.

I agree about the cap max possibility. Still looking into that.

It is scan. I cap max, you can have permanent not editable scan members that the end users cannot shut off. We use those type of talkgroups to simulate all calls on systems where there are multiple user groups requiring different all calls. TT

It's also caused by mismatched firmware between control head and radio. Rewriting the firmware or recovering the radio in CPS will resolve it.
Nailed it right on the head, This is what I was getting at with my questions. If the case had been replaced recently it can cause the red light flash.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't scan an orange light flashing, not a red light. I was wondering if that was a mistake in the OPs original post as well.

The orange and red are so similar that I consider them the same from the perspective of the end user. TT

I was about to comment the same. Red and orange are different indicators for different things. Yellow=scan, red=error.
