4 Months ago I transferred to the security department at the Aquarius Casino in Laughlin, about a month ago I saw that the database had all the frequencies regarding the hotel and casino as well as all the other neighboring casinos. 2 weeks ago I was promoted to a supervisor position and knowing the freqs. were available, found a slightly used scanner so I could monitor the other shifts. The scanner arrived today (Pro 2037) , went to program it and low and behold not only have the freqs. disappeared for the Aquarius but also the Edgewater and Colorado Belle, which all happen to be owned by Golden Entertainment Inc.. 2 questions here, 1. did Golden ask for those Frequencies to be removed ? and 2. does anyone have the frequencies I need? BTW, If this is not the proper forum please forgive and advise me, it was the closest I could find as far as the problem goes.

Unfortunately the scanner Pro-2037 will not be able to scan those DMR systems. You will need to get either a DMR capable scanner or a DMR radio. The scanners that can are upwards of $400-$800. The radio I have in mind is a TYT MD-380 which are around $120. The TYT radio is not DMR Tier III or Capacity Plus these systems are using so no transmit but you can monitor the systems.

Looks like the best fit for Laughlin would be the UHF version of the Tyt MD-380 or any DMR UHF radio you can find there are many brands. My go to is the XPR-7550 from Motorola.

So just following up on this, my friend took my TYT MD-380 home this week, he lives down in Laughlin. He tested my codeplug and all is well everything works for the systems listed there for monitoring Aquarius/Tropicana/Edgewater/Lodge all of them. So options are get a $400.00 scanner with DMR or find a DMR radio from TYT/AnyTone/Revis/Motorola etc'.

Well, I can't afford the XPR-7550, the TYT MD-380 is closer to my budget. Can this be manually programed or do I need software, computer, etc.? What about a base station? I know Motorola has one, we have one in dispatch but I'll bet it wasn't cheap.

Ok so the tyt radios have free programing software and come with usb cables if bought new. Base mobile are available shop around but you will get near $300 pretty quick. I already created a program file to start with I can email to you. You just need to find a radio that does DMR and I can help from there. A good source is www.buytwowayradios.com but you may find others out there. The dispatch radio you have is probably a XPR-5550. PC programing only You can get a tyt here $60. TYT MD380 arrived today, very poor translated manual too, this should be fun.....

Don't you love them!! In another forum I related how "non-intuitive" the BCD325P2 radio and its manual are, along with some outstanding software developed for it that doesn't come with a full manual. People are climbing down my throat for saying so. If the manual was well translated, you might still have problems understanding it. A techie type person writing instructions in a second language? A non techie trying to translate what a techie wrote into a second language? A lot of my nightmares are not as scary.

I'm following this thread as I sometimes take different routes between the eastern Sierra and Phoenix to visit family. One of them uses U.S. 95 south of Boulder City, over the river at Laughlin and then on to Kingman. Who would take such a circuitous route? There are more efficient routes. A radio guy, to work ham repeaters and listen to the scanner along the way.

I have a Md-380. I wanted to help out and send a file to simply load via the tyt CPS software. What’s so hard about that?

absolutely nothing, I appreciate your help, it was the aspect of translating the translation of whomever wrote the translated version of the owners manual.

So, am I correct in assuming that in order to "activate" the radio I must first register it with the DMR-MARC Network? If so, I'll have to get a Ham license.

You can listen on DMR all day long without an ID. It's when you transmit that you need an ID. Not sure about your radio, but mine has a monitor mode that lets you hear everything on the frequency no matter what talkgroup/time slot/color code.

Well, I hate to admit it but, I'm totally lost. I downloaded the software, but have no idea what the settings should be. The ? button shows nothing, there are absolutely no reference guide, no help page, nothing. Tried to manually program the radio to no avail and from what I can see this is more a phone than radio. The software looks like DOS shareware and I'm really starting to have buyers remorse.

Check your messages and email. I know this is a whole new animal of a radio but the AH HA moment will hit you when you follow the steps I sent you.
