Disappointed...

...in the fact that, well I probably didn't read enough about some commercial radios, before I bought them. I bought a GMRS liscence, and have been searching on the internet for ways to program these radios myself, but often I find out that the device is unavailable, services aren't offered, or it's a big no-no to advertise it here. Free programming was offered for the winning bidder on E-Bay, and I opted for the first few channels on the GMRS spectrum, no repeaters. I have the radio, and purchased an antenna to be cut for those frequencies, but I can't make the changes myself, if I decide to do so. I will receive a few more later, but I still won't be able to program them when they get here. One of which could have been programmed before it left the seller. Would have been nice, had I figured it out for myself, before I paid for it. No one to lame but myself.

That is the radio model that I have programmed, and would like to then add repeater pairs in the GMRS service, eventually. I have also ordered a Uniden SMU 300K.

What is the original make and model of radio? Or is the SMU-300K what you have? (I was left with the impression you have some model you haven't disclosed, and the Uniden as an additional piece.)

What I Have...

...Is a Standard GX 1510 mobile radio. It is programmed for:

1) 462.5625

2) 462.5875

3) 462.6125

4) 462.6375

5) 462.6625

The radio was programmed with those frequencies in a rush as part of a free service provided by the seller on Ebay, which was a requirement to purchasing the radio, or it would have come with only the test frequencies. The purpose for having the radio was to use it for GMRS, and to eventually have it programmed with repeater pairs.

I want to do the same with the Uniden SMU 300k. I will go to the post office this morning to see if it is one of the two packages waiting to be picked up.

There will be others to play with. I have a Relm lmv2458b on the way, and a Ritrom RLM 150.

I realize now where the radio is programmed. I plan on getting that fixed.

The Uniden has come in. I believe it is programmed on two channels for 462.650. Anyway, the Standard no longer seems to put out a signal. Maybe the finals are gone, no smoke. Maybe it has already forgotten what it was programmed for?

Update

The Standard GX1510 seems to work okay on a larger (home brew) power supply, big enough to run any radio at least 100w. Weak ps used earlier. I have no power meter here to measure watts out, so I presume the radio is running more than 5w on FRS, which will definitely need to be changed.

The Uniden SMX 300k works well on same home brew power supply on 462.650, simplex. Again, two channels programmed as test frequencies.
