Disconnect between home page login and forum login

Hello,

I noticed that I had to log in on both the home web page and the forum page. I logged out on the home and the home page says to log in but if I go to the Forums I am logged in.

related question: why is the Wiki a separate account?

i was trying to post some updates to my stream information during Rita, but i kept getting kicked out with my forum and homepage login.

As I understand it, the Home Page, the Forums, and the Wiki all require seperate logins.

The wiki requires a totally seperate user account.

The Forums and Home Page use the same logon and password, however you have to log in/out seperately for each.

Integrated Forums & Home Page

Lindsay,

Would the Home Page & Forums eventually be integrated together so that we all could login once? Most of the time I don’t even bother logging into the homepage anymore to check for any update for my area. When I do login, I usually notice that there has been an update for my state with in the last week or two.

Possibly, I'm looking into the details of doing this. It would involve changing vbulletin to also set your portal cookie, which I'm reluctant to do, since hacking vbulletin requires even more issues when upgrading the forums software.

Honestly, it's kinda a low priority for me, with all the other things I'm working on, including getting the database ready for conventional XML support.

I can logon to the fourms fine but can't get into the DB. When I try to log in it says it passed the cookie test but when I submit my username and password, it gives me my user status and says I'm offline. I then tried to logon using a bad password (as a test) and it says Login Incorrect! Please Try Again...

Any ideas?

That sounds like a corrupt cookie. Go into your cookie cache and delete the radio reference cookies.

As a general point of reference, if you don't log out, you don't have to log back in between sessions. So if you log in at the home page (or database) and also for the fourms, just don't log out. Shutting the browser window has no effect on your login.

Anyway, I tend to log out because I sometimes use a public computer. I tend to check up on here when I get stuck on the dispatch desk and things are slooooow.
