Discontinuation of VSP Stars radio system

Not very likely. They were just appropriated a large sum of money last year to replace all the mobiles and portables and upgrade other parts of the system. However it is still the same system just upgraded. At some point as part of the upgrade it may be switched to P25 Phase II.

I agree with John, with the recent investments they've made in hardware, I believe STARS is here to stay for a while.

I think there is probably confusion between the DVRS

I don't think I've ever heard any traffic on DVRS, so I avoided it a few weeks ago to quit fishin' where they ain't. But STARS is quite busy.

You would have to be close to an active DVRS to be able to hear anything.

They would be a few watts output, into a mobile antenna, mounted less than 2m above the ground.

Heard next set of Motorola updates before the end of 2022 would Encrypt dispatch and tac channels. Also heard that new radios would have the capability to encrypt. What have you all heard?
