• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Any news from Kenwood with regards to Type D and the way forward
Type D is on it's way out, as far as the Kenwood side goes, only the 40 series radios will do Type D until they
are disco'ed.

It was provided to me under Bulletin "LM-S03-20 Discontinuation Notice "

Ah, you are in Canada, that explains it.

That hasn't been announced down here yet. TK-2402/3402 and TK-2312/3312 are still showing on the June price guide.
And we don't have an NX-1x00Axx model here. Only the:
NX-1200NV/NX-1300NU NXDN VHF and UHF models.
NX-1200DV/NX-1300DU DMR VHF and UHF models.

Wondering if the NX-1x00Axx models are an analog only solution sold in Canada?

Hmm, now that you mention it I don't see the NX-1x00Axx models listed in any Kenwood literature either (Including my Canada full line catalog), but based on the naming convention I'd surmise they are an analog-only offering as well.

I just had it confirmed that the 1x00Axx is an analog-only offering in the same form factor as the 1x00NK and 1x00DK radios.

I've also learned that though software licensing that you can upgrade the analog radios to digital, and convert from one digital standard to another (NXDN <-> DMR). While the radio can not support more than 1 digital mode at the same time, once the enablement has been done, you can easily swap back and forth between the modes, with the reprogramming of the radio. Makes this a very attractive radio for a rental pool. or as a low cost transitional radio fr those shops that are analog, but sitting on the fence for their digital migration.

Yep, that's how it was intended. Same with the NX-3000 line. Wide RF capability (800-900MHz, or full UHF band, etc) DMR -OR- NXDN and analog depending on how you program it. Less radios that dealers have to stock.
