diskman cassette adapter

I am trying to use a diskman cassette adapter in a 2002 Chevy 1500 pickup. It has a remote cassette player in the console. I know there was some combination of buttons to make it work on another truck but can't remember what they were. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't you just stick the jack into the headphone jack of your radio,adjust
the radio's volume to a low level,and stick the casette adapter into the
console and adjust the truck's radio volume to a decent level?

What buttons do you mean?

Are you referring to an adaptor from a seperate radio to tape player setup?

The owners manual calls the cassette player a "remote cassette player" however it does play through the radio. I am just trying to figure out what combition of buttons will allow the cassette adapter to stay in the player.

No buttons needed, just push it in like a tape and when you don't need it: eject it,.. it will just sit there with the heads disconnected and no sound will play.. I use a similar techinqe with a scanner sometimes.

Nope won't work that way. It keeps ejecting it. When it did this on another truck I had I found that I had to hold certain buttons to make it keep playing. By the way I am hooking it up to a scanner but that has nothing to do with the problem.

Wierd! Try a combination of PLAY/FF or RW/PLAY as a trick. BTW this is a standard Delco stereo system right?

Yes this is a Delco system. The radio and cd player are mounted in the dash and then the cassette player in the console. The only control on the cassette is program and eject. Tried a lot of different combitions and could not get it to work.

The GM/Chev Owners manuals used to cover this (my last GM was a 99) for the AC Delco stereos, if not try a GM/Chev site search or check with your local GM/Chev Dealer

Sounds like the adapter is tripping an End-Of-Tape sensor, or the player senses the supply-reel capstan [if no rotation is detected when it should be, the unit ejects the cassette to prevent loose tape from being tangled in the mechanism].

If you find the button-sequence, try that; if not or it still won't work, you may have to try another brand of adapter.

Also [if you're not already]...be sure to use a Mono-to-Stereo plug adapter to feed the audio to both stereo channels. :wink:

Unless it's a GRE-made scanner...Then the stereo-mono adaptor is not needed...

It still plays in mono, but it's nice enough to play from both speakers for you

Well I found out from the dealer that I cannot use the cassette adapter since I have the deluxe radio with Cd. They checked the computer for info on doing it and there was nothing. Oh well I will work around it.

Try Flipping it over

I've had this same problem in two different vehicles.
If the player will let you switch from side 1 to side 2 with a push of a button, try that.
If that doesn't work, flip the tape adapter over. You will have to re-route the wire that comes out of the top of the tape.

Alternate speaker

You can also buy a wireless adapter. You tune your car radio to an unused frequency and plug this little transmitter into the scanner and it comes through your stereo.
The method I use is to get an amplified computer speaker that runs on at least 9VDC. Run 12 volts to it, plug the speaker jack into the scanner, and you have a very loud (and adjustable) external speaker. I keep mine under the front seat and it works great.

I had same problem with my Satellite radio, you have to flip the tape over just lik Baybum said.

Well I tried flipping it over and got it to go in fine but same thing happens. Goes through checking both sides and then ejects.
