I programmed all the 900 frequencies from the database but all was quiet in the park. Noticed nextel Push to Talk phones on the staff, anyone know?

They switched to Nextel about 2 years ago but they still have the 900 trunked system as a back up.

They are on the Motorola-Nextel iDEN trunked digital system. Anyone know, are they using their dozen or so 899mhz freqs for this?

There are three talkgroups still in active use.

592 Jungle Cruise
1424 Some kind of backstage custodial (very infrequent)
432 Monorail/Railroad (used only as a backup when Nextels are down)

Everything else - Nextel.

Jungle Cruise "Jungle Central" on 592 today with lots of radio checks, report of boat motor not starting, and request for animation prep.

1424 had lots of maintenance requests yesterday.

No, it's all Nextel. The freqs you speak of are inputs to the 900 system.

I'll be taking my HP-1 with 'custom' programming to see what I can pick up on the 900MHz system. Last time I went (during the summer), I heard the custodial chat and the jungle cruise boats.

Did they finally pull out the Mot TRS radios from the jungle cruise boats?

Your master site
The Nextel i355 seems to be the model used throughout the parks. Under 50 bucks a unit vs how much per 900mhz trunked HT?
What about the ability to completely control your network? I'd say that outweighs cheap subscriber radios.

Unless mandated, they will not go to TRBO. D-Land replaced the 900 equipment (new repeaters, controller, additional Gold Elite Consoles, etc) prior to switching over to Nextel. The 900 system is their back up and they intend to keep it running as long as possible.

Or change the 900 system over to Mototrbo ?

Although I can't see Spring wanting to give up the per-subscriber monthly fee and
airtime usage fees.

Possibly migrate to PTT over CDMA?

Hopefully not....

Is this a guess, or does someone else deploy it?

...and why hopefully not?

It is already monitorable. It couldn't be more unmonitorable... :(
