Is this the system you wish to monitor?
Newfoundland Provincial Radio (Project 25) System Trunking System, Various, Newfoundland and Labrador - Scanner Frequencies
Looks like there are multiple sites on this system. If you want to monitor this system, you would have to be probably within 20 to 30 km of a site (dependant upon what type of antenna you use, the higher your antenna the further away you can be). Now, like I said it depends how this system is set up, but I highly doubt that the talkgroup you want to monitor would be carried on a tower 200km away, but I am not familiar with the way that they have configured their system. A PATCH on the system is a completely different as they could be patched to a talkgroup that is pushed out to more sites on the system.

Are you able to pick up the control channel off the tower that closest to you? If so, you can hear whatever talkgroup is associated with that tower. Set up a wildcard to see what you get. I can't answer any better than that.
i was reading a new roaming capability was built in to the new system so they don,t have to manually change channels when they leave the range of a particular tower and there is a wider talk group available so that any member (rcmp) in the western and central region can talk to any other member with the change of a channel instead of requesting a patch from the central command center in st johns. i am talking about newfoundland . So i should be able to pick up that talk group any where in newfoundland???
