• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just had a DM32UV delivered yesterday & it looks like a cool little radio. So far analogue UHF/VHF services working well including air band. But while I thought I knew how to set up DMR I’m having a struggle to get it working properly. I am attempting to receive Regina Public schools on 463.1625 mhz. In the settings I set the channel as digital. In the database it lists the color code as “1” & I chose “slot 1” and put these settings into the radio. The signal meter shows that the radio is receiving the frequency but I don’t get any audio.
Am I overlooking something? I have no problem receiving the channel with DSD plus. The menus get to be a bit confusing so I would appreciate any assistance in getting this working

In addition to the color code and time slot parameters, you also need a talkgroup number to monitor a DMR signal. If you don't know the talkgroup number, there is a function available on some DMR radios called "promiscuous mode" that allows you to hear any DMR signal, regardless of talkgroup. I don't think the DM32 has that function, but it does have a similar workaround that I recall reading about. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact information, but you should be able to find it somewhere in posts about the DM32.

Thank you Chief! The information you provided will be very helpful. I got the talkgroup number from DSD+ but after watching a couple of YouTube videos it looks like it has to be entered into a contract list or something like that. I’ll need to get more familiar with the menus & give it a try & if I mess up a reset will give me a fresh start. I appreciate you mentioning the promiscuous mode, I found a webpage that describes how to enable this mode. I hope it’s Ok to post the link here in case others want to try it. A PC software program called DM-32UV CPS needs to be installed to connect to the Baofeng to make the change.

Baofeng DM-32UV enable Promiscuous Mode

I’ll more than likely get the DMR upgrade for my Uniden 325 scanner as well as many of the services here that use DMR are trunked but so far I love everything about this radio so I’ll have to do some more experimenting

Here’s how I got it to work perfectly using settings in the menu on the radio itself:

How to "Mimic" Promiscuous Mode on the DM-32UV
  1. Access the Menu: Navigate through the radio's menu system.

  2. Find Radio Settings: Look for the "Settings" or "Radio Settings" section.

  3. Select Group Call Match: Find the option for "Group Call Match" or "Talkgroup Match".

  4. Disable Group Call Match: Turn this feature off.

  5. Set the Color Code and Timeslot: Manually set the correct color code (CC) and timeslot (TS) for the frequency you are monitoring.
I’m not sure if there is any way to listen to slot 2 at the same time as slot 1 on the DM-32UV but most of the traffic is on 1 anyway. A huge thank you to chief21 for educating me on the workings of a DMR radio 👍
