Over 60 % of the frequencies I use to me monitor switched from FM to some sort of DMR radio system
I know AOR makes a radio, about $1500 or you can use DSD plus or other forms of SDR which is a pain
Anyone know if Whistler is going to try to make one, Uniden I doubt we see any thing new after taking the beating over the 436/536 problems

I'd imagine some day they'll have a DMR/NXDN scanner, but for now don't hold your breath.

You're best bet is to use DSD+ and then program in what you want to listen to into a DMR Radio and use it as a scanner.

Start with DSD+. If you want to learn more about MotoTRBO DMR search for the PDF download "MotoTRBO System Planner". Hytera has a DMR System Planner too.

AOR DV-1 is overpriced and doesn't display important information about the dmr signals you receive.

I do run DSD + it's ok and to sum it up you get what you pay for. I did see an ADCR25 in action tonight and that unit kicks butt decoding MotoTRBO. It's about $ 240.00 CDN.
The software is pretty good. Will order one tomorrow.

I'm a little late to reply to this thread, but it's recent enough that I'll offer you up some advice.

Why not get a Motorola XPR6550? They're getting less expensive (used) and are a real decent performer. You can disable transit for each channel via the programming software.

Alternatively there are several less expensive brands. Performance and support may not be in the same tier, however for someone wishing to use them for RX-only, they will work just fine.

MD380 by Tytera (TYT).

Connect Systems

Identify what type of system it is first, before ordering a radio. If it's a Motorola proprietary trunking solution like Connect Plus, you'll be limited in your RX capabilities if it's a busy system, unless the radio is programmed/flashed properly.

You can always scan a Connect Plus system's voice channels in conventional mode.

Also make sure any potential system is not running Restricted Access to System (RAS) or voice encryption as you will not be able to listen to the traffic with a subscriber radio.

Computer software such as DSD+ will allow you to monitor a DMR system protected with RAS, however RAS is not encryption -- it's just a form of access control. Many DMR radios (Motorola confirmed) will not unmute to "clear" traffic, if the RAS key is not entered into the radio. RAS is a Motorola-proprietary feature for their MOTOTRBO branded systems.

Thanks for the reply, yup you described the path I went, now have a few 380's and other and run DSD plus
Getting good at programming the 380, and too keep the wolves off my back, it's setup " Receive Only " so essentially a scanner
I do monitor a few connect plus systems in conventional mode

Hoping Whistler come up with DMR scanner soon
