Hi All,

Great Forum and folks.
Thanks so much for all the help.

a. Trying to decide if it's worth, for me, to spend $ 75.00 and get
the DMR key for my SDR 200.
Not sure how much there would be, additional, to listen to.

From RR, i pulled up the clip that I'll try to append at the end.
Good info., but not all that i would like.

Any suggestions to really quantify how much might be in my area ? ($ 75 is a bit pricey, for me, if there aren't a reasonable number)
Live a few miles North of Framingham, Mass.

b. And, from what i can tell, i am in Zone "H" for the MSP. N. of Framingham)
But I see they also go by numbers.
So, what numerical MSP Zone am I in ?
What to go by: the alphabetical desig., or the numerical ?

Bob - as for the DMR, that is only a question YOU can answer. DMR is mostly used by businesses. Per the trunked listings, is there anything YOU would want to listen to that is DMR? Personally I purchased the DMR for my SDS200 and have rarely used it. I just don't care to listen to businesses, hotel housekeeping, tow trucks, or private ambulance transport companies. If that would be of interest to you, then buy the upgrade. Otherwise save your money.

Hi again:
I believe I already answered your question with regards on how to find out how much DMR there is to listen to in your state, see my detailed response to you here

On My 996P2 I have the DMR Upgrade and I listen to the IC&E systems but understand I want to know about Garbage pickup in New Bedford MA
because its used by a private contractor along with the City Services System which is DMR along with Eversource Electric trucks being DMR too ! There are some other interesting things to but that's me. My 996p2 is dedicated to DMR So I listen to the
Local HAM Radio Network on 2 meters too. State police and local police are on other scanners.

Using up Resources on your SDS200 for DMR Buisness traffic instead of Police and Fire may be the wrong thing for you.

.
The current cost of the DMR key from Uniden is $60

DMR = $60
NXDN = $50
ProVoice = $49.99

For Whiskey JMC,

Hi,

Really appreciate all the info., and your time to write it out.
Just what I wanted and need.

I'm getting familiar with most of this, but still have lots and lots to learn, and many questions keep coming up.
In my mid 80's now, so please bear with me bit.

Was additionally wondering, though, how much "actual" usage from these DMR Licensees ?
e.g., used heavily, or lightly, etc. ?

Thanks again,
Bob

I’m planning on getting an sds200 myself. I’ve been listening to my local University for over 30 years and the Public safety security service frequency switched over to dmr radios in June. I’m also going to use the scanner for p25, so I can listen to my county ems and fire, which are not encrypted. So, I will be buying the dmr key. Just thought I’d add a post here. I’ve received tons of help in these forums. Thanks for posting!
