Dmr question

I want to try monitoring some DMR frequencies. A couple of frequencies I suspect have DMR and are FCC listed as DMR upgradeable from analog.
Will conventional DMR sound like NXDN conventional when listening in analog mode?
Or does DMR sound like moto "machine gun" sound?
I am assuming the data stream only TX when PTT.

Raw undecoded DMR data will sound more machine gun like than raw 6.25k NXDN data. Also is what you're hearing simplex or thru a repeater? They will sound different.
