OK fellows I’m an 85 year old newbie to this forum so go easy on me if I mess up. I’m trying to be able to listen to the Fayetteville TN Police dept on 460.1000 and the reference data base shows it’s a DMR system, (which I am not familiar with) I have a BCD996T scanner now with a BCD996P2 being delivered on March 4 will both be able to receive the signal? Thanks to the youtube video’s I have learned just enough on these scanners to build a data base for conventional and digital system’s but nothing on DMR. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 996T is not capable of DMR at all.

The 996P2 can be upgraded for DMR by means of a $60 paid upgrade from Uniden.

Check this link for the DMR upgrade info:

Thanks for your prompt reply, I just had not researched far enough as I'm new to the system. I'm learning slowly.

Looking at the information given plus a little research. The Sheriff and your local police are using DMR and you have a Statewide system on P25 Phase 2. Looking at the Lincoln County license, you have a few frequencies are listed as DMR . Your City is on 460.100 as mentioned. Note yourself what Talk Groups come up. Talk with some Ham operators, and scanner listeners to get some help with programming your new radio. It can be a little tricky. If you need help with programming it. Return back to this thread and ask for help. Good luck!!

Thanks, I should have done more research on purchasing the BCD996P2 which was an upgrade for the BCD996T that I already have, but the DMR was a new process that I just didn't do the research on.
