If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

DMR Radios Problem in reading devices

Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue where I'm unable to read Motorola DP3000 and DP4000 series radios using the associated software. The software was working fine previously, and after several attempts, it was able to communicate with the radios. However, now I'm unable to read any of the devices connected.

Here are the details:

  • Radio Models: Motorola DP3000 and DP4000 Series
  • Software: attached in photos
  • Problem: Initially, the software worked and could read data from the radios, but now no device is detected or able to connect.

What I've tried so far:

  1. Checked the physical connection: All cables and ports are intact, and the radios are powered on.
  2. Tried restarting the software and radios: No change.
  3. Tried using a different PC: Still unable to read any radio
  4. Reinstalled the software: Still no luck.
I've attached some photos showing the software interface and the radio versions. If anyone has encountered a similar issue or has any advice on how to troubleshoot this further, I'd really appreciate your input!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Version 8 CPS is OLDDDDD and definitely never read the DP4000 on firmware 2.10

You need CPS2 for the DP4000 and Version 16 for the DP3000

Thank you so much for your helpful reply! I really appreciate your clarification regarding the correct versions of the CPS for the DP4000 and DP3000 series radios. Your input was very valuable in understanding the issue with the outdated Version 8 CPS and the need for CPS2 for the DP4000 and Version 16 for the DP3000.

If it’s not too much trouble, would you be able to share or point me in the right direction for obtaining these software versions (CPS2 for the DP4000 and Version 16 for the DP3000)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you once again for your support!
