Paul,

Has anyone brought up that Sentinel forces you to name a channel if you hit the + to add a channel? This becomes a problem because then we miss out on the TG and ID. I get around this by doing copy and paste tricks which will get you to a blank channel name. If you try to edit a channel in Sentinel to have a blank channel name, you get a popup with a scary red X and “Enter Channel Name.”

RC4 no go on ham transmission or I did something wrong programming...

I'm on RC 4 and decided to try DMR reception on 430.500 locally using my DMR radio (Tytera MD380) on TG9.
I proceeded to program a simple conventional favorites list with a single frequency. 430.500 Mhz with SQ MODE in DMR / CCode Search.
For my surprise my 536HP is not registering any signals eventho I am transmitting with 1watt right in front of the scanner (in low power mode).

So I thought my scanner was not receiving any signals.
I added an analog frequency with ALL mode to that same favorites list in order to test reception of an analog signal. I tested an analog transmission on that same frequency using a non-DMR radio (my dual band HT ham radio) and yes, the 536HP received the transmission clearly on an open analog mode on 430.500 Mhz.

I must conclude I am having a problem with DMR only.
I can provide screenshots of the programming on Sentinel and if needed I can make a quick video of my tests.
I am open for suggestions if I am perhaps doing something wrong.
I also confirm that I do have DMR active on the Upgrade screen of my 536HP.

A couple things.

Transmitting too close to the scanner can easily overload it and the scanner will not receive anything.

You need to make sure, per the documentation, that the programmed frequency is set for FM modulation and also a lower manual digital threshold, such as 5.

I've set to Manual 5 and changed modulation to FM. That worked well. I am now able to hear my local TG9 transmission in DMR mode clear crystal. Thank you!

Cork the griping & say Thank You..

The Uniden team has done an Excellent job keeping us updated and even releasing modded

If you guys have not yet seen how QuickSearch now works on RC4, this is like Christmas in July for those of us working on figuring out the systems in our areas!

That must be a photoshop because we've all been told that the 436 is completely deaf on 400 MHz.

LOL! :D

It helps loads that the tower that channel is on is 3-miles north of me on a mountain ridge. The owner has 2 uncommitted antennas & network access at the site, so a few of us are scrambling to take him up on an offer to host an amateur DMR machine there.

DMR and Priority DND

I am sure Uniden knows this, but since I was one the posters who had the problem. I can confirm that the fixed worked. The issue is gone.

You should feel lucky to have a good one. If the shoe was on the other foot I would not mock you. I would be on your side as you are the consumer. I personally never used the word completely. MINE is poor.

It's not that we don't support them, it's just funny that they cry on the forum yet don't send the unit back or just want to make statements that are not constructive at all, that gets old

Great that we have all that info, now including UID, on conventional DMR. But still no UID on conventional P25. Why not? The whole P25 One Frequency Trunked thing just to get UID is over complicated and slow to scan.

Digital audio levels improved again, thanks. But I still have the issue with recording lots of dead space during the scan delay period, long after the transmission has ended.

And... Please give us NAC search display during ENC/LNK/DAT encounters on conventional all mode channels (all modes, including analog) and custom search. Please, please, please...before you wrap this up. Now all I get is blank recordings with no information. The information would have value. That would eliminate the need for running a Whistler scanner, and a computer running WIN 500, just to get that NAC information logged.

Thanks for all the efforts!

Good question..
Maybe make the RID's taggable also....
This radio is a major Sleeper..Lotsa power under the hood
in a non-descript case...Lets let the inner beast out to play!
I mean,,UNI's mascot is the BEARCAT!

Oh..and maybe toss in MDC1200 Too!...
(could not resist)...but seriously....

V4 passing encrypted audio

RC 4 is my first version, it is very interesting to note that TRBO "advanced" encrypted audio passes through clearly and then is muted after 250ms.

Have to wonder about the possibilities of that.

Paul,

You and the team have done a phenomenal job. I can't say enough good things about how Uniden has went about implementing DMR and included us in during the process [with lower early bird pricing]. DMR is working great for me. Con+ traffic [the majority of what I listen to] doesn't seem to ever miss a beat.

Thanks!

Mike

System type in Conventional scans

I have an observation and see if anybody/everybody else has noticed this. I program all the frequencies that are questionable into normal conventional favorite lists, setting the Mod to FM. When they become active, I usually get the Slot number S1 or S2, and also the Color code. But it does not tell me if it's CAP, CON, DMR, etc. Is this normal and if so, this would be a great addition to the firmware before the final release.

All in all, the RC4 is doing very well for me, no complaints in reception and audio quality. Seems to not skip anymore transmissions as verified with DSD+. I would just love to see the CON, CAP, etc designator in a regular conventional favorites list. Great job Uniden and Thanks!
