When you are holding during search, you should be able to press the ENT/YES key to store it in the 'quick save' bank.

Will we ever be happy? UPman has allowed us 9? pre release versions of the DMR upgrade to play with, and the usual "my scanner sucks" and "my scanner doesn't work right" posters keep coming out of the woodwork to complain yet again. There are specific forums set up for complaints, but yet some find if they post here, they will get a response.

Can we possibly stay on topic? UPman originated the post as the 4th pre-release discussion thread. That is it! While I understand the moderators may catch some heat, I'm requesting to delete all posts not directly related to the 4th prerelease of the DMR upgrade...that's it! I have it set up to be notified of "new" posts on this subject hoping that maybe I'll catch a tip or something I missed to try.

To load the new firmware, the Read Me file is very specific. If you can't understand it, then you shouldn't be doing it. Read the instruction manual...it's a wealth of information before you ask a question. Don't you enjoy figuring things out on your own...a challenge?

Finding a DMR frequency....very easy to do. USE THE CUSTOM SEARCH feature! That's how I did it. No one held my hand, walked me through it....nope...I did it! Back in the old days, we had Police Call directory's and searched all on our own....try it, it's kind of fun actually!

I'm still learning software tricks and tips. I've made my mistakes cussed myself out and came back at it and got it right. It's a learning curve folks....take your time and read!

Once again I read the "deaf 436 on UHF" popped up again....need I say, most of us don't care if you're having problems and aren't going to do anything about it but complain on the forum! Send the damn thing back! Paul and the Uniden crew didn't make a bad scanner and send it to you, sh** happens in the electronic world. Things go bad....deal with it.

If we delete all the non-release 4 threads, we should be down to 2 pages!

That must be a photoshop because we've all been told that the 436 is completely deaf on 400 MHz.

No one ever said it was completely deaf, you TRUMPeter of false facts. Some of us have had legitimate issues with the 436, lots of issues in fact, whether you believe it or not. Perhaps your puppy love with Uniden has clouded your ability to see the truth.

Let me ask a quick question to the group out here:

Are any of you finding better-quality DMR audio by setting the unit to 'FM' instead of 'NFM'? I've seen some x36HP & Whistler videos in the last 24 hours where people overrode the default RX mode. With basic Sentinel support, that's a very quick & easy change to make if it improves the audio...

Bug Report

Tried some searching today.

Custom Search is not detecting DMR no matter what modulation mode is selected. Holding on a DMR frequency is working, both repeater and simplex direct, but neither are being detected while it is searching.

And I noticed that changing the modulation type in Sentinel doesn't change the programming in the radio. I don't think changing the band defaults worked either. Needs some attention on all of these issues.

Not a bug, Custom Search is working very well here on both a 536 & 436. Make sure it's set to ALL when searching. Sounds like a programming issue.

Thank you I am getting to old for this stuff. I will say that this custom search thing picks up the DMR freq's perfectly. Team Uniden is doing good again.....

Did that...NOT working. Four DMR repeaters within 2 miles of me are not being detected with the settings in Sentinel set to AUTO, NFM, or FM. There is no "ALL" setting for custom search in Sentinel or in the scanner programming. It's a bug here.

Phil

EDIT: The only thing that I could think of that might cause this is my Manual Threshold setting of 9, but it shouldn't. I Just checked standard FM analog, and it is not detecting that either. Something is broke here, and it may be more complicated than usual, but operator error is not the issue. I'll see if I can determine the unique condition. A power cycle did not fix it...more to change and try.

I had the same issue with one of my 536HP's and I had to send it in for repair.

Don't tell me what to do, and don't tell me I'm wrong. Stick to your own business, and quite frankly you are casting stones at other people with your long rant "Will we ever be happy". I'm not a novice scanner user, and my only interest is to report the issues that effect operation. I suggest you do the same, and stay out of other people's reports.

If you have constructive suggestions, other than "Make sure it's set to ALL when searching",which I don't see any option for "ALL", I would welcome the help. But I don't appreciate you telling me there is no problem just because YOU don't have a problem. That is out of line.

...so why did you post your rant then? Obviously you have a scanner problem, while the majority of us don't. Custom Search on DMR Release 4 is WORKING on our scanners. Someone else posted they had to send it in for the same issue. What more would you like us to do for you? Thank you to Paul and the Uniden team.

Good question..
Maybe make the RID's taggable also....
This radio is a major Sleeper..Lotsa power under the hood
in a non-descript case...Lets let the inner beast out to play!
I mean,,UNI's mascot is the BEARCAT!

Oh..and maybe toss in MDC1200 Too!...
(could not resist)...but seriously....

Spot on with the MDC1200 for me at least. I live in a city where the PD still uses MDC1200 in their radios and its a large department. But i know im in the minority as its a very old and my guess is not often used signaling system.

Hello All.

I want to try to install the Release Candidate 4 for my BCD536hp but I am having troubles. Could someone maybe please put up screen shots of the whole installation process. I could never get even RC 1 installed because Im not sure where to copy and paste the correct bin file. Ive tried to watch videos of it but they go too fast and for me its hard to stop them at just the right place.

Thanks Sheldon.

The clear and easy to follow instructions as to where to put the .bin file are listed in the "READ_ME_FOR_RC4_PASSWORD" text file that is contained in the firmware download.

Read the line that starts with "To apply the update", and then read it again.

If it still doesn't make any sense to you, best to wait for the public release..... And NO, I don't know when that will be, no one does.

1st download.
2nd Unzip
3rd Read Readme
4th Unzip bin files (with Windows (File) Explorer)
5th Enter Password
6th Right Click (w mouse) bin file for your specific model use "Copy" or "Cut"
7th Enter Password
8th "Paste" Drop bin file in the SD cards (BCDx36HP) file for firmware named "firmware", you know you have the correct Folder if it has 2 files already in it CityTable_V1_00_00.dat and ZipTable_V1_00_00.dat
9. Remove SD if you took it out of the scanner, Replace into scanner, either way don't forget to use EJECT in Windows or risk corruption.
10th Turn scanner on firmware will update scanner will show a screen that it is "Updating the firmware don't turn off power while updating"! Then it will show "Firmware Updated"
11th. do what you want afta that
