I noticed this problem with RC3 (couldn't install RC4 yesterday), but since there was nothing in the notes for RC4 that it was addressed, I'm assuming it's still there:

On a conventional DMR frequency with RAS, my 436 was not displaying the talkgroup. It did display the color code/slot. I did manage to obtain the talkgroup using DSD+.

Thanks for the work on DMR. The addition of the DMR ID display when searching is excellent.

Dave

I too agree with Dave as noted above. On two different TRBO systems that I know run RAS when my 536 is in custom search mode, it will pass audio, it does not however display TG or RID. It does display CC and slot as noted above. I am getting all other DMR systems perfectly. The display with CAP+ is awesome.

Hello,

I found a 800 MHz Hytera Tier 3 system and noticed it used what maybe a standard map for 800 MHz. LCN 1 is 851.000 with a step of 0.0125 MHz. It maybe something to try for 800 MHz Tier 3.

The formula:
LCN = ((Freq - 851.000)/0.0125) + 1

900 MHz maybe a standard map as well. I do not have any Tier 3 systems in my area. The formula to try:

LCN = ((Freq - 935.000)/0.0125) + 1

More RAS Non-RAS Testing Results

I too agree with Dave as noted above. On two different TRBO systems that I know run RAS when my 536 is in custom search mode, it will pass audio, it does not however display TG or RID. It does display CC and slot as noted above. I am getting all other DMR systems perfectly. The display with CAP+ is awesome.

I have set up both a conventional system on my 536 and a single freq DMR "System" and also performed a custom search of these frequencies. The results are mixed with TRBO systems using RAS.

"Conventional system" Passes both analog and RAS TRBO audio (on repeater output) with no slot CC or TG ID shown on display.

"Custom Search" Passes both analog and RAS TRBO audio (on repeater output) with no slot of TGID, does however show CC.

"System" When I build a single freq DMR system I have been able to get no audio from a TRBO system using RAS audio (on repeater output). If I simply change the system frequency to a DMR system that is not using RAS the 536 passes all audio and information perfect. Yes I have the department type on.

Anyone else?

RAS is functionally similar to CTCSS. A scanner will not need the correct RAS code if RAS detection is not set for that system. However, if you set a RAS code, it must match that being used by the system or you'll hear nothing. RAS is only useful if you have the identical frequency (or frequencies) used by two different sites or systems with different traffic on them. It allows sharing frequencies with different traffic using RAS as the deciding factor on whether to unsquelch or not.

DON'T use RAS unless you need to (in other words).

I believe you have RAS and Color Code confused.

Sentinel request

On the System Quick Keys Status tab in the Favorites editor, could we have buttons for All Off and All On?

When I want to use only a couple of keys, I have to click almost 100 times to turn all of the other ones off.

I've ben able to give this latest release a good test over the past few days and can report to UPman and the Uniden engineers I think you nailed it this time. My first test was CAP+ system delay issue was noticeably resolved. I tried an additional CAP+ trunking System, 2 CON+ trunking systems, and 4 separate Single frequency DMR systems and all are receiving well, conversations being followed, I-Calls are being followed and didn't have to make any programming changes. I have my DMR channels set to Auto and have no issues with receiving.

I do wish I could create two separate profiles in Sentinel for my 436 & 536. I read it's set up this way by design so I figured out a work around. I was coming from Free Scan which allows us to set up different profiles for as many scanners you have. Can't have it all I guess.

Thanks again all involved....I look forward to the public release now and the next challenge..NXDN.

Right click in the empty gray area next to the check boxes; a menu pops up that allows you to set all on or all off.

do you mean, disable all (FL's)- then enable the FL's your interested in?

If so than that would be a nice option...

Wow, I learned something today. :D Thanks for this, especially from my cursor keys, spacebar, and fingertips!

I can only comment atm on using RC3 on a RAS Conventional TRBO system, but can confirm that when the frequency is added manually to the Quick Save System, it will show TG, Slot and CC. I assume RC4 would now also show Unit ID. The same RAS enabled frequency when paused on following a Custom Search will just show CC and Slot and no TG.

I'll be able check how RC4 behaves on a RAS system in a day or two.

So I guessing maybe RAS isn't your issue here, but the settings that are being used with how you're programming it into your BCDx36HP?

Don't forget if you program in an alpha tag to a conventional system, it WON'T display the TG or Unit ID.

According to the Motorola MotoTRBO manual, RAS affects ONLY whether a transmitting radio is allowed to have its signal forwarded by the repeater. It does not affect whether audio being sent from the repeater to subscriber radios is heard or not. It's simply a code-method for restricting who uses the system - subscribed radios or any radio with the correct programming.

So it's functionally equivalent to a conventional repeater having receive CTCSS or DCS turned on - it won't hear a transmitter which does not include the correct PL code or tone. RAS, however, has a lookup table containing all the proper subscriber radio's IDs and will only hear those sending the correct RAS code which is derived from their IDs and a secret RAS authentication key. Knowing the data being sent by a RAS enabled radio will not result in knowing the correct RAS key as it's a one-way mathematical process to derive the RAS authentication code from the RAS key and radio ID.

See this page and the next two following: Ras Key Authentication - Motorola Mototrbo User Manual [Page 336]

Please

even if it, at first, it just appears, in Sentinel

Wow, who would know. I stand corrected, now if we could get it in Sentinel for the Favorite List too and both of those capabilities in the scanner, that would be extra helpful.
