Tytera DMR Reception on TYT UV-380 - signal but no voice

Hi, Have have found a pretty active DMR channel using my Uniden SDS200 - have a strong signal on the SDS200 along with loud and clear audio.

I then programmed - or attempted to - my UV-380 with the same frequency, color code, TG-ID in Contact and time slot.

When a transmission happens, I see the symbol for an incoming group call (I believe - A large and a bit smaller person icon with an arrow pointing to them). But - all I hear is a weak hiss in the speaker - no voice.

Any clue on what I may be missing - except a more sensitive receiver on the SDS-200 ?

I can make a call from my other DMR trancsciever (MD-380) to the UV-380 and hear the sound clearly - so receiver is working on DMR Single frequency.

Likely RAS is in use (Restricted Access to System). Scanners ignore RAS, the radios do not.

Looks like an excuse to get a SDS100 for mobile use

Ha ha ha! You can never have too many!

You're welcome. To keep it really simple, there is a RAS key (kinda like an encryption key, but it's not encryption) that is put into the radios. When that key is sent out from the repeater, radios with a matching key open up. Those that don't have the key remain silent, but will still see the signal. Radios without RAS capability (non-Moto) don't know what to do with the extra information, so don't open.

Scanners ignore all that crap, so will listen to everything regardless. ha ha!

Locally, we don’t use RAS to prevent people from listening to our conversations. What earth shattering conversation might you hear? Where we‘re having lunch? We use RAS to keep the CCR’s off the repeater.

Since this isn't the amateur radio section of the forum, I have no idea what he might hear. I'm guessing he is trying to monitor a commercial system. But his question has been answered.
