the problem is people here act like if you report a problem THEY aren't having, it must be YOUR problem and you don't know what you are doing.
Let's use an example from this very series of threads (the DMR upgrade public tests).
Over the course of four public previews, four more release candidates, and one public release, how many people insisted that the passwords in the zipfiles weren't working at all no matter
what they tried, and/or that the firmware file was not 'opening correctly on their computer' or not updating their scanner when they put it into the firmware folder? Were
any of them correct in saying that there was a genuine problem with either the zipfiles or the firmware files? (spoiler alert: the answer is no)
The overwhelming majority of the time, the problems announced on RR involve people doing things incorrectly or expecting something to work when they have missed an important step (another case in point: complaining that their radio doesn't receive police at all - solution -
turn on the 'law dispatch' service class).
I do concede that bearcat may have found something that definitely affects reception in
SOME BUT NOT ALL radios. However, to turn your quote above around on you, just because
you are experiencing an issue doesn't mean that
everyone is, and/or that it isn't something unique to your own circumstances. It's just as likely that the reason someone isn't picking up a particular signal is the TV station transmitter two doors down from their house as it is that the radio has a defect.
