I was bear hunting near Lake Jocassee the last three days and had my HT with me. I never heard anything on the DNR Long Mountain repeater. The database shows 151.325 as the correct frequency which is what I had programmed. I was easily able to hear the 147.270 2 meter repeater which is on the same site. I could hear patches of comms on the 151.415 Caesars Head which is about what I expected. So what channel does DNR use on Lake Keowee, the Jocasse Gorges, and Lake Jocasse?

On page 14 of the "you know what" it shows they have used DPL734. Best bet is they use cell phones also.

I was on carrier squelch so they must be using cell phones. I actually had cell service near the lake, so it's a possibility. The 151.430 freq may reach Lake Keowee, but I didn't have it programmed.

Thanks,
Bob

I only had incidental signal from the Caesars Head 151.415 on my solitary perch on a ridge mostly northwest of Lake Jocassee but about 400 feet above the lake level. Both mornings, I heard a boat come into the Toxaway arm of the Lake and then leave. Figured it was DNR checking the lake first thing, but it could have been some Duke Energy operations. I don't think DNR could have worked Caesoars head from down there. Since I didn't hear any ops, I thought I might have the wrong freqs in it (no PLs were programmed). Every thing appears to have been correct.
