Ever time I see this it make's me laugh.
These freqs were set aside in each Center for SAC and other high flyer's.

A guy who work's for FAA say's these freqs haven't been used in years!

It would be interesting to see if anyone has logged one of these freqs recently and what was heard.

That's one of the reasons you shouldn't trust the FAA listings in the database. 'nuff said 73 Mike

The only users of those freqs that I have ever heard was U-2 flights at altitude either entering or leaving FAA controlled airspace (from above).

I live near Beale AFB in California and can say that 296.700 MHz is in use
daily by U2's. The FAA ground station is located on Mt. Tam near Marin.

296.70 is also located at the Angel's Camp site too. Along with 271.0 and a few others.

Don't publish what ATC frequencies?

Take a look at some of the ARTCC listings, and you will see 'do not publish' tags on some of the FAA ATA-100 frequency listings. As noted previously in this thread, they're badly out of date. 73 Mike

I would like to thank jimvn for keeping this discussion on track!
Anyone else have anything else to add about these frequencies?
Here in Fl. I don't recall ever hearing these freqs used.
I only monitor over 5,000 MILAIR freqs, so I might of missed a freq being used.

These freqs may not be in regular use nationwide, but I assure you that they are available freqs for ARTCC use for T/SU (Tactical/Special Use) purposes. Some of the ARTCC's have moved away from the standard 321.3/364.8/369.9/296.7 group and established a diffrent "ARTCC Wide" tactical frequency, while some others have made "mission specific" T/SU's available.

Not just some ARTCC's have moved off the old 100 split freqs.
All are moving to the new 25 split freqs.

U2's still in use? I thought they were replaced by SR-71's. Or perhaps that's maybe what the Air Force wanted everyone to think. Keep taking those high altitude recon images!!

BMT,

I have two for you...

ARTCC for KZTL List 369.900 and 264.200.

As recently as Tuesday the 12th I caught DIXIE(KC-135 AL ANG) refueling GOOSE(C-130 Hurlbert AFB) on 369.900. I hear refuel activity several times a month on this frequency.

264.200 seems to be an air-2-air freq for Navy birds, most recently TIGER was the c/s. Not sure if these were T-45s or other aircraft. Last heard just before Christmas.

Good Listening,
Keith
