LASO usually has 3 ...one in San Gabriel valley, one in the south end and one in high desert area..

Pasadena has one up.
Burbank/ Glendale one
El Monte has one covering 5 cities.

You won't hear any of the dispatching on the AM channels. The helos for the various agencies around the county are dispatched on the FM frequencies that are used by the field units for that particular agency. For instance, a brushfire response, will be on the main dispatch channel for the county or LAFD, and the helicopter will be included along with the ground units.

LAPD has a dedicated helicopter frequency that is used to talk to the heliport or other helicopters, but all of their operational traffic will be on the divison frequency where they're operating. The Hotshots/K9 channel is actually just a broadcast of the initial call within the division, the field units actually do not talk on that channel.

123.025 is the main helicopter frequency for the Los Angeles area.
