Some guys have radio setups that others envy. Some of us cannot blow that amount of money on radio gear... but what if you could? What kind of radio(s) would you choose, what kind of layout would you go for? What kind of antennas and noise limiting hardware would you install?

Sure, it's all pie-in-the-sky make believe to most of us, but hey, I'm betting many will get ideas and learn from what you write, others may be inspired to take a small piece of it and incorporate it into their radio room(s). Nothing wrong with a little fun, especially if the entertainment can be instructive.

My ideal setup:
SDS200 - P25 (TASGRN) / Logging / Recording
UBCD436PT - General Handheld
UBCD536 - General Base / Searching
AOR8600MK2 - Base

All on a shelf like this :)

Not many can go out and spend $50k for a ham station but its not a big deal to pick up that much in equipment used, especially surplus from the US Gov. I had one single radio system, an HF radio, 400w amp, power supply and matching antenna tuner that cost $50k new, its not a big deal t have that stuff and pay 1/10th of what it cost just a few years ago.

I thought this thread might be a crossover from a ham shack to perhaps what Professor Falken's pad would look like if he was into radio communications... Obviously I'm talking about the 1983 movie War Games.

So, lets play a game. Okay, I'll bite.

For one, I'd own a minimum of 5 acres of land. I'd have long wires facing East/West for shortwave. I'd have several satellite dishes. I'd have several high-end SDRs that cost some 25k or more a piece. I'd even roll my own AI and incorporate that with my signals processing and whatnot. I'd also have a small server farm. Most of all this would be underground about 30'. I'd have quadruple redundancy for everything all the while constantly thinking of the what if's.

That's pretty much that in a nutshell I guess. Too lazy to list individual manufactures and whatnot.
