I am going to try to check this fire out tomorrow. Are they just using McDowell County tac channels that would normally be used? If so what are they? What about statewide events channels on VIPER? Does anyone know any forestry frequencies? Thanks

This isn't exactly what you were asking for, but it might be worth plugging in and monitoring . . .

The FAA has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the area of the fire, and the contact agency is listed as the NC Forestry Service on 123.125 MHz. You MIGHT be able to catch some activity on that frequency.

Ok. Thanks. Anything I can get. I will look for the TFR to find out where the fire exactly is.

Not much relating to the fire on local frequencies, at least not anything that I can hear from the central part of the county
Structure protection units may be using State Fire 154.280
Other local TAC frequencies are: 153.950, 154.220, 154.325, 154.400 and 155.580 (North Cove Repeater)
Don't know about VIPER

During previous fires some of the comms guys have come up on the local ham repeater 146.985
