To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just wondering before i buy a P110, dont want to be stuck with a walkie that cant fit the RIB i have unless it uses its own type of RIB for programming
yeah im going to assume its an aftermarket Ribless cable.
I doubt it will work on a P110 since someone else already solved that question for me. now i know not to purchase a batch of those for my post, might as well stick with all the GP300's
The GP300, P110, GP350 and GM300 all use the same serial bus setup, so all of those can be programmed with the same interface, but not the same cable... a GP300 ribless programmer might fit on the back of a P110, but I havent tried it as I never used the P110s I own.
I think the P1225 uses the same interface as well, but I havent confirmed this yet.

Dont worry im not brain dead yet.. the more i read from others, the more i pick up and throw in my knowledge from my own experience before i even found out about radio reference ...
thats all i could afford but ill look into getting the real deal then thanks to the tip.. i want to buy it at the shop but apparently he cant sell it to me.. though he has about.. 2 or 3 he wont sell it to me and its on the shelf!!
whats the difference anyways?
oh i visit batlabs periodically to see if i can get any deals on radios i like and want
The ribless cables usually will work for ONE type of radio. The RIB will work for ALL the radios that need a rib, and many of them you can make your own cable for a couple of bucks. It's cheaper in the long run.
