• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Does anybody know anything about this antenna?

That type of antenna in Greenville will add to the intermod problem you may already have on UHF. Actually an antenna smaller than the original is most pupular because many transmitters are on Paris Mtn and will overload most scanners in the area.

I think I have used that antenna. I dont recall the cat number though, but it didnt improve reception at all. I could still only use my scanner in certain parts of the house. I am not kidding, from where it is right now if I move it 6 inches to the left or right I lose all reception on all freq's. But if I move it accross the room, I am able to pick up Dallas Fire. Move it back I cant recieve DFD but I do get DPD, so 10 ft makes the difference btwn hearing police or fire, 6 inches makes the difference btwn recieving anything at all. I am using Pro-94 with original antenna, and I am in Carrollton about 1 1/2 miles west of I-35 @ 190. One would think I would have excellent reception here, but I dont! As for that other antenna, I dont recall what happened to it. I havent been able to find it in a year or more.

The RS 800 MHZ Antenna is the BEST HANDS DOWN

Agreed! Well worth the money! I live by that thing...at home anyways. The stock antennas that came with my scanner do me no good. I do live in the city...but in a little valley or something.

RS 800 MHz antenna

I sell the antenna and use it on my own PRO-95 and PRO-96. I get much better reception inside the car and my basement at home. A tuned antenna is a better antenna. I will say that VHF is not as good as withthe stock antenna but then that makes perfect sense. Both of these scanners do very well with tuned antenna systems on whatever frequency band you listen to.
