Folks,

I got my Pro-95 and want to program federal frequencies, specifically ATF and US Marshal. From the research I have done, it appears that there are no state-specific frequencies (I am in north Texas) rather a set of frequencies that are repeated nationwide. Is this assumption correct? Can someone point me to a "reliable" list of frequencies?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
You are correct that there are no state specific freq's. There are freq's specific to large metro areas though. Here in Philadelphia most every service has a booming repeater on a frequency that is not documented for that agency in any other city.

Outside the major cities my travels have found that the nationwide lists are correct. Just search for them on google ("ATF Frequencies") and you'll have them all.

Many parts of the country are not covered by repeaters for the feds and they rely on Nextel and simplex operations.

The feds are fun to try to figure out. just remember, they mostly work 9-5 and that's when you'll hear most of the traffic.

DEA and FBI tend to work longer hours when they have a reason to but even in my metro area I can go days without a peep from them.

Then there is encryption......

Frank,

ATF Commonly uses 165.2875 for communications. They are transitioning to Project 25 digital mode, however much of the comms are in the clear.

Marshals uses 163.2000 as a primary.

There are lots others out there, but that should get you started.

If you would like to hear some real good Federal stuff try the High frequency bands. You will need a good S.W. receiver for this but you will hear things you never thought possible.
Most of the 400 Mhz freqs listed for Government are now trunked however there are some exceptions.
If you are in Texas you should be able to pick up INS and DEA with no problem.
They switch freqs. often so you will have to look.

Try Google as the last post suggested or totsie.com and most will be there.
Be patient and you will find what you want.
Good Luck!
