One of the frequencies I monitor is the Sayreville Emergency Squad EMS frequency. 154.995. Does anyone else notice that the audio heard from most of the mobile/portable stations is VERY VERY low? The dispatchers are normal, but when I hear the ambulances talking to the dispatchers, their audio is very low. Is it me? Is it something having to do with the technology they're using?

After listening some more, it seems that JFK base is the one with VERY low audio. It almost sounds like their radio was never narrow banded back when it was a requirement. If that's so, they could get in some trouble with the FCC. The transmission has that sound once I crank up the volume.

Pretty sure Sayreville EMS operates on the towns TRS, which is also tied into the county TRS, the VHF is probably a patch from the trunk system hence the poor audio
