DSDPlus Does DSDPlus 2.523 still generate .traffic files?

Hey all,

I have an SDR setup at home where I have two NooElec RTL-SDRs plugged into a raspberry pi which I have running headless and can use via RTL-TCP and SDR++.

I've been wanting to use these for trunk tracking and so originally fired up DSDPlus 1.0.1. I was having some decoding problems with that so I bought into the Fastlane updates which resolved the decoding issues.

Now, I know that FMP can only control the radios if they are on the machine running DSDPlus or if they're on another windows machine on the network, but this doesn't help me at all because my RTL-SDRs are plugged into a raspberry pi. Taking advantage of .traffic files which (at least used to) communicate from the DSDPlucs-CC to FMP-VC to facilitate channel following, I started to write a plugin for SDR++ which would watch for these files and then tune via RTL-TCP automatically and pipe the audio back to DSDPlus-VC.

Once I bought into fastlane, I started using the newest version and I noticed there are no more .traffic files getting generated which is obviously catastrophic for my plugin idea. Does anyone know if theres a setting/arg that can be set to have DSDPlus generate the .traffic files or is this capability just completely removed in the latest updates?

I found the answer to my own question but I'll post it here in case anyone else is looking for this another time.

DSDPlus (at least for 2.523, not sure about earlier) will not generate the traffic files for a call unless there is a matching record for the channel which the call is being made on in the .frequencies file.

The .traffic files use the following format:

[protocol]_[network]_[channel]_[frequency]_[calltype]_[TargetGroup]_[RadioID].traffic
Example: NEXEDGE48_R93-8_0260_154.350000_GC_238_3309.traffic

Just curious, is the pi with the 2 dongles at the same place as the pc running DSDPlus? If so, why not use the dongles on the windows pc?

Yeah the pi is in the same place as my computer. The original reason the dongles are on the pi is because they're some old NooElec RTL-SDRs that don't seem to play well with USB 3.0 which is all I have on my desktop computer. I figured I like having them on the raspberry pi anyway cuz then I can just leave them in the corner, forget about them, and access them from either my desktop or laptop.

What happens with p25 since it does not use the frequencies file?

Unsure yet, have only been testing with NXDN and DMR so far. I'm planning on playing with this some more tonight and doing a little more research so I'll add back to this thread if I find anything out. I'm assuming the .traffic files are still generated for P25 but I'll have to give it a test.
