I heard a TCSO deputy talking to service side on C asking if He (service side) was calling him on lowband, and Service replied yes. It was my understanding they didn't.

Cleveland county SO refers to low-band but they mean their old 154.265 frequency. I guess it is lower than 800 mHz....

Yeah TCSO calls their old VHF freq "low bad" as well (155.07), but I heard somewhere the dispatchers don't have the ability to talk on it, only the units do.

No, regional dispatchers don't have low band nor do they desire too. I commonly hear them talking on C and the units will refer to low band but the dispatchers do not have it. The radio techs took those radios out of the dispatch center years ago when TCSO went 800 back in like 1996. Low band is a car to car thing and if you ask some deputies they probably prefer it that way.

thanks PJ, I thought I recalled you telling me that at one time, it just struck me as odd that a dispatcher told a unit that he was calling him on lowband Maybe I just heard wrong.

I swear I've heard a dispatchers on 070 (lowband). I know their repeater was still operational as of Jan. Several other agencies still use it to talk to them. I've even heard some media foke talking to TCSO officers on simplex. (no it wasn't you Mark)

Regional has no vhf capabilities. They don't monitor state net, local govt or 155.0700. They state they can not safely monitor more than one frequency.
