Hello, does the SDS200 support the ProVoice,as I tried to install the Serial Number I had for my BCD536HP,and it does not seem to want to take it?? If there is a new Serial Number for the SDS200,I hope,I do not have to pay for it again, that would not be fair to me or all of us. Thank you in advance for any answers. Have a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year.Mark.....

It's a new purchase. To me, it seems fair, as that key is purchased for that device.

Hello,I actually purchased it for the BCD536HP,and tried to install it in the SDS200,keeps telling me WRONG KEY ENTERED. I don't understand that,I would think it work work on even the new scanner as I pain for it. Like I said,if it will not work on the SDS200,and I need to purchase a new Serial Key,I am going to explode, and be very pi$$ed at Uniden...Paid enough for the scanner,it should be a courtesy,FREE UPGRADE for that find of dough you spend.Thank you for the reply,I am confused,I may need to e-mail Uniden and see what the issue is,as I refuse to pay again .Have a great day, going to play with the new toy,and have a few cold ones, enjoy my friend,,,Mark

Each scanner needs its own upgrade key. They are based on the Serial numbers for a particular scanner. They are not interchangeable between scanners. Uniden has to pay licensing fees and royalties for each individual scanner that is upgraded.

If you refuse to pay again, you simply won't listen to ProVoice.

Lol! So what you're saying is that Uniden should sell one key to one person and then that person can just give it to his buddies and they can all put it in their radio (any model) and then give it to their buddies.

Sounds very profitable. I'm sure Uniden will finance all their R&D this way in the future.

Hello,no what I am saying,if I fork out.the extra money for the upgrade,do you really think I would pay this kind of money for the scanner, then fork out that kind of extra cash, then give someone the serial number code to a friend, you have to be high. One,my friends are not into scanning, and two,I am not stupid to give out something like that to anyone. The thing is,if I purchase this ProVoice, with my hard earned money,I believe I should own that software and use it any place or install it in any scanner I chose, got that. You spend the amount of your hard earned dough ( which these scanners are not cheap ),and buy these, not CHEAP upgrades, are YOU going to give the code out ?????????.???? I don't think so. My point is if I purchased the serial number for the ProVoice,I should own the rights to that Serial Number and do what I want with it......So with that, have a Good night, think about this, pay good money for a upgrade, you should own it,they give you your personal code,it's yours, but I will not give it out for that kind of money,,,,,,,,

You should take up your beef with Harris or whoever the license holder is. We are just the messenger.

The radio hobby is quite expensive. We all know that you have to pay to play in this hobby. Licensing fees, copyright pays, upgrade fees, permissions to do this or that. Nobody said it was cheap! If paying individual scanner upgrade fees is that annoying, maybe you should take up needle knitting? J/K I am just being goofy here. Seriously, tho, the only reason we have to pay is because Uniden has to pay as well. So many copyrights in radio engineering, it's ridiculous. It's a lot of money to pay for some radio fun, but we love it so we pay it. What else are we going to do?

You paid the fee to activate a feature on one single scanner. Not every scanner you own or will ever own. You upgrade two scanners, you pay two fees. You want two cheeseburgers, but are only willing to pay for one.

Sure, but that's not how it works. If you want to use it in two different places, you have to buy two.

Just like going to Home Depot and buying two hammers. You use one, your buddy uses the other and you finish up the project faster.

The whole model makes perfect sense, buy what you need.

Like going out and buying a pickup truck. If you want a towing package it cost extra, it's not included with every truck.

Hello fellow radio lovers,I understand what you all are saying,I understand the issue of having to invest in another Serial Number to access the goodies if you want, ( or need the updated software ),but actually I really do not need them. I purchased the ProVoice just because I read on iy and thought it was interesting. The one I want now is the DMR,but I am in IN,near Cedar Lake, and there are a few digital hospital frequencies that are digital. Is the DRM digital?????This is the site I am getting some information on?? I want to thank you gentlemen for some input,as I understand how it is going to have to be,and the way it works.Thank you for everything,as I apologize for opening this post on the wrong site,as I am kind new to this, and I had a BCD536HP,and now a SDS200,need to practice running these puppies. Thank you gentleman for putting me in the spot,I can be crabby ( like us all )some times. Have a Happy New year,,and I hope I did not ruin my access to the Forums to talk with you guys,I did learn something,,,,.NO HARD FEELINGS MY FRIENDS,have a great evening,,,Mark,,I hope you won't ignore me if I have a issue,as I did have a stroke at 44 years old,and do have a few reading issues,Thank bro's,Mark.....

I feel Marks pain, maybe there is a way you can return or disable you 536 license and pay a smaller fee for the SDS 200 to transfer? Never hurts to ask.

No. You can't undo or transfer an upgrade.
