I live in Shakopee near the intersection of Marshall and 169. Not at the lowest part of the Minnesota River Valley, but still in the gully.
Antenna is up around 30 feet. (AOR SA7000). Radios are SDS100 and AOR DV1. Plain old f-connector splitter (2 ports). RG6 coax. I did monkey around with a PCT Cable drop amp with some in line attenuators. The splitter works just as good.
I can pick up far NOAA stations as far as Rochester, Jeffers, New Ulm, LaCrosse, Aitkin. So maybe 100 miles regularly.
Far ARMER includes Sherburn-Wright, Rice County Simulcast, Anoka, Chisago, Washington and the other Metro ones of course. Sometimes Nicollete which seems too good to be true. No Meeker or McCleod. MPLS N-S is sometimes choppy. So ARMER up to 40 miles.
Conventional 150/450 all over the place maybe 75 miles or so.
Wisconsin includes St. Croix VHF, Dunn VHF and Pierce VHF.
Can sometimes pick up 2 watt handhelds on 154 about 3.5 miles away.
I have no reference if this is good or not.
What do others in higher elevations in the metro get? (interested in greater MN results also).
