Not sure if they are MLAT. Looks like he's been up for a while also.
The first one (N610AG) just went back into John Wayne Airport.
N143GS still up

Also using sqk 4415

Squawks 4401-4433, 4447-4452,4466-4477 are all for any law enforcement related ops (local, state, fed).
Squawks 7601-7607, 7701-7707 are all for federal activity.

Sometimes, at least with the state police here, they just squawk 1200 (VFR) even if they are active on an op. Other times, the aircraft don't even show up on the various radar/ADS-B websites even though they are active on surveillance ops. I would imagine the FBI aircraft can be just a vague.

Thanks, Ben. I've been looking at all these C-182Ts that are associated with the DOJ. Those that are "leased" from places like KQM Aviation seem to use 4414 and 4415 sqks making them kinda easy to spot by their Mode-S or ADS-B positions. Also their track patterns usually show a continuous orbit when they are working. Again, thanks for the info on sqk allocations. More database info for me.

I commonly see these DOJ planes around the DC area. Yesterday afternoon one was circling near FedEx field in Landover, MD. Another took off from KHEF and made a giant loop around the outer edge of the DC SFRA.

I see N622MR, N632TK, N467TS the most.

FBI Northern Virginia Resident Agency. 9325 Discovery Boulevard Manassas, VA 20109 just happens to be about 1 mile from KHEF.

Bristow, VA just happens to be centered right next to KHEF.

Thanks for the DC area info. That N632TK gets around. It was seen over Kentucky recently. Database on the C-182s keeps growing. Also need to start looking at their C-206s. At least 2 are active in CA.

N632MR is up over Chantilly VA area now; took off from KHEF. Been like this almost every weekday. Plane will go airborne around 900-1000 am for about 2 or 3 hours. Then go back to KHEF and come back out in the afternoon around 3p or 4p. Wonder if there is any traffic on the DC area FBI aircraft freq. 136.275?

What you're seeing there around KHEF might be a reflection of their training program. They gotta train those pilots and operators somewhere.

Fraz,
I noted that PC-12/45 out of HSA and CBP the other day. He was sqking 4663 then also and flying same
pattern as the FBI birds. Earlier today I also noted an Orange county C-206H (A7D925) in the same area east of Long Beach and flying the same circular track as the FBI bird. In fact, I noted 2 FBI birds, one Orange County bird, one HSA/CBP bird and several LA and Orange County choppers all flying around in the same general area. I'm sure the air traffic controllers were having a great time keeping them all separated.

Good observations Steve. I thought maybe I got something past you. lol.
That is the first I have seen an actual gvmnt plane flying that pattern. Only difference was the altitude (15k)
Interesting.

I think that gov PC-12/45 may have been a late-comer to the party and all the "good" altitudes (5, 6, 7k) were already taken so he was forced up to 15k. Not sure exactly what kind of sensors they all use so his may have just been better suited to that 15k slot. Also, the large number of air assets in use today says a LOT about how the feds are viewing the situation in CA. From news reports about all the pressure being levied on the feds, I expect to see a continued high level of air activity over the coming days. Too bad they don't have ADS-B or even Mode-S on gov surface vehicles. Wouldn't THAT be something to chase!

N610AG used to based out of Manassas.

I had figured out all these front companies years ago. Not just the ones listed in this post.
http://forums.radioreference.com/ma...cky-thread-milair-vii-2012-a.html#post1684804

YAMASEC USA LLC isn't valid for DOJ. There was only one plane registered to it and there is no way DOJ would have an L-39 jet.

My list has 134 DOJ/FBI aircraft plus three unconfirmed ones.

Spinning, Thanks for the updated list. That N610AG has been a regular in CA since the start of this FBI activity. Looks like he may presently be based at John Wayne Airport.
